For those of you out of the loop, I just relocated to Oregon after ten years in a southwest Arizona border town. It shouldn't be very difficult to come to conclusions of why I left.
One thing I've been getting enjoyment out of is reading the opinions of others in the area where I live. In Arizona, I had to open up the local newspaper to the opinion page to do this. Here in Oregon, many people post their opinions on the backs of their cars.
Now, bumper stickers with little political snippets are nothing new, nor are they exclusive to any particular region. It's the great number of drivers with stickers on their cars, and the great number of stickers I often see on each car that has amused me since my arrival. One car that especially made me laugh was a late model Honda Accord with the bumper and trailing edge of the trunk completely covered, as in not one more square inch of space, no paint showing.I'm sure the main reason I see this more often in Oregon than in Arizona is because of Oregon's lean to the left. Unless you're in Tucson on Flagstaff, the two most liberal of Arizona's county seats, you just don't see many cars plastered with stickers that make any kind of statement. Oregon is more liberal, and liberals generally don't have anything else going on in their lives besides being political and angry, hence the endless collections of leftist tripe stuck to their cars' business ends.
Here's an idea for these folks, if any of you are reading this. On your next Subaru or Volvo, instead of covering the thing with these sorts of stickers, why not just stick a Kerry/Edwards sticker on the rear? That way, everyone will know your position on all things political, and you won't need to ruin the looks of your vehicle with all of the pro-abortion, anti-gun, "I love gay sex" mantra stickers. If you can't find an actual campaign sticker, I'm sure the "don't blame me, I voted for Kerry" ones are still available on your favorite communist propaganda website.
